Ministry wants mobile app to replace passport created sooner

MOSCOW, May 29 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Digital Development Ministry has suggested changing the date of creation of application Mobile Identifier to August 31 from December 1, according to a draft government ruling released on Friday.

Mobile Identifier is special software that can be installed on an individual mobile device, like a smartphone or a tablet, connected to the Internet, the document read.

The Digital Development Ministry earlier offered to experiment from July1 till December 31, 2021, in Moscow with the application that could substitute the passport in provision of some state, municipal, and other services.

According to the draft, the application and its infrastructure are to be ready by August 31, but citizens willing to take part in the initiative will be able to use it only from December 1.
